At the gates of Siena, a place in paradise...Antica Toscana Restaurant
Tuscany is beyond doubt one of the most heralded regions of Italy, having as it does a symbiotic relationship that exists between countryside, history, art and culture, and its food and wine treasures that few other Italian regions can rival, and which travellers from all over the world rank as one of the most sought-after destinations. The name Antica Toscana probably came about following all these considerations, as it speaks volumes of the pride of belonging that the owners have to the system of values which the region is founded on. In particular, the idea came to Milva Del Vigna and Fabrizio Viciani, partners in both work and in life, who decided to engage together in this difficult but fascinating adventure. We offer cuisine based on regional dishes, naturally the meat and typical dishes that have made this land famous the world over are not in short supply: the CINTA SENESE cold cuts platter with game canapés, PAPPARDELLE in wild boar sauce, PICI in venison sauce, POLENTA with CINTA sauce, TORTELLACCI ALLA FORNAIA, onion soup, thick tomato and bread soup, RIBOLLITA soup, RISOTTO CARNAROLI with wood pigeon, and to follow Florentine T-bone steak, small marinated CINTA steaks cooked over charcoal, stewed boar with olives, fried lamb chops, fillet steak with white truffle, braised pheasant in an earthenware pot. Neither do we shy away from taking on elaborate fish-based dishes, and indeed offer a valid alternative to the typical cuisine of the region. Quite the contrary, we must say that fish has quite become our speciality. A few examples? The hot and cold mixed starter platter, the hand-made STRACCETTI with lobster and baby tomatoes, TAGLIATELLINE with gilthead fillet wrapped in foil, Antica Toscana fish soup, and then mixed fish fry basket with fried vegetables, isolana style salted fish: oven-baked or grilled, shellfish Catalan-style and finally for lovers of raw seafood, there is a wide and varied choice.
Inside the restaurant, warmth and refinement give the customer a sense of well-being and tranquillity that one does not easily forget.
The beautiful summer veranda and the elegant gazebo frame these most unique and special surroundings, so much so that several specialised reviews have ranked it among the most charming restaurants in Italy.
